Researcher

Full-time (On-site) – Based in Bali 

su-re.co (Sustainability & Resilience) is a “Think–Do–Be Tank” that bridges research, implementation, and education to co-create climate-smart solutions with communities and global partners. Our Think-Tank Team plays a crucial role in shaping evidence-based strategies, publishing high-impact insights, and driving advocacy for sustainable development in Indonesia and beyond.

We are seeking a curious, analytical, and collaborative researcher to join our Think-Tank division. This role is ideal for someone passionate about interdisciplinary climate research, policy analysis, and systems thinking—someone who thrives in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and wants their work to translate into real-world impact.


Job Responsibilities

 

       Research and Analysis 

​

  • Lead and contribute to studies on climate resilience, with focus on sectoral transitions policy pathways for low-carbon development, and social dimensions including adaptation, mitigation, and climate justice. 

  • Conduct desk and field-based research: data collection, interviews, policy scans, literature reviews, and spatial analysis. 

  • Contribute to the development of frameworks including but not limited to the Justice Compass, climate finance mechanisms, or restoration models. 

  • Produce high-quality research outputs including technical reports, white papers, policy briefs, and academic publications.

  • Support the development of project proposals and concept notes (e.g., for the European Commission, GIZ, IUCN, FAO, etc.) in collaboration with international partners. 

    Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Collaborate with communities, ministries, donors, and international research institutions. 

  • Facilitate participatory workshops and co-creation sessions with farmers, youth, and local governments. 

  • Conduct interviews, consultations, and validation activities with multiple stakeholder groups. 

    Strategic Communication 

  • Translate complex findings into actionable recommendations for policymakers, practitioners, and the public. 

  • Present research findings at workshops, webinars, and international conferences. 

  • Support the production of educational materials, blogs, and digital content to amplify our work.

    Cross-Team Collaboration   

  • Work closely with the Do-Tank (implementation) and Be-Tank (education) teams to align research with practice. 

  • Supervise interns or mentees working on related research topics. 

  • Participate in internal project planning, monitoring, and evaluation processes. 

 

​Requirements: 

  • Master’s or strong bachelor's degree in environmental science, public policy, international development, climate studies, or a related field. 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in research roles, ideally with experience in proposal writing and stakeholder engagement. 

  • Excellent analytical and writing skills, with experience producing policy-oriented or peer-reviewed research. 

  • Proficiency in both Bahasa Indonesia and English (written and spoken). 

  • Familiarity with climate and sectoral policies in Indonesia, particularly in land use, energy, and transport. 

  • Proficient in MS Office and digital research tools (e.g., Mendeley, QGIS, NVivo, R/Python preferred but not required). 

  • Adaptable, proactive, and able to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Willingness to be based in Bali and travel to field sites across Indonesia.  

 

Desirable Qualities: 

  • Experience working on internationally grant-funded projects (e.g., IKI, Horizon, ASEAN, JICA). 

  • Knowledge of carbon credit systems or carbon accounting. 

  • Interest in systems thinking, participatory research, and South-South collaboration. 

  • Commitment to sustainability, equity, and community development.

Administrative Assistant

Full-time (On-site) – Based in Bali 

su-re.co (Sustainability & Resilience) is currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, with a strong focus on financial administration, compliance and donor reporting, while also supporting administration and human resources. 


Job Responsibilities

 

       Financial Administration 

​

  • Process invoices, reimbursements, payroll and ensure proper supporting documentation 

  • Reconcile and prepare financial reports (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, General Ledger) for internal use and donor-funded projects. 

  • Assist in preparing grant and donor financial reports, including attaching receipts and detailed expenditure breakdowns. 

  • Coordinate monthly and annual tax submissions with external accountants/tax consultants. 

  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and audit requirements.  

    Administrative Support 

  • Maintain organizational legal documents (LKPM reports, Deed of Establishment, etc.) 

  • Manage filling systems, data entry, and document control.  

  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, appointments and travel arrangements 

  • Support the organization of company events and activities.

  • Assist with updating and improving administrative policies and manuals.  

    Human Resources 

  • Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job openings and scheduling interviews. 

  • Maintain employee records and assist with HR-related documentation. 

  • Coordinate employee training sessions and workshops. 

  • Support the implementation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring staff feel supported and engaged.

    Coordination and Teamwork    

  • Regularly communicate and collaborate with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders. 

  • Ensure that all projects comply with company strategies, local laws and sustainability standards through team-based coordination. 

  • Contribute proactively to building a supportive, collaborative, and positive work environment. 

 

​Requirements: 

  • Diploma or degree in Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred (High school graduates with proven financial administration experience may be considered).  

  • Experience with accounting systems (Xero preferred) and financial reporting.  

  • Familiarity with donor or project-based financial reporting is an advantage.  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools.  

  • Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia.  

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage documentation for compliance and audits.  

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
