Kindness in Every Single Cookie

Hi everyone! This is Maya, from the BE-Event team. Starting from May, I became part of the DO-Business Team too to help the farmers to market coffee and chocolate. Here I am as the DO-Business team going to share with you the story behind our su-re.cocoa Gluten-Free Cookie! 🍪 🍪 🍪

It started in May 2020 when we struggled to market the cocoa and we did not want the cocoa to become less tasty and moldy. We planned to produce something tasty and can be consumed by most of our customers and market during the quarantine. At that time, the Government of Indonesia decided to implement a semi-lockdown in some areas in Indonesia because of the Corona Virus. Then, we asked our good friend to make a Gluten-Free Cookie using our chocolate. 🍪🍫

We collaborated with Amanda, a creative and talented local chef with unbelievable baking skills. Everything was done mainly from our individual homes, but as the orders were increasing sharply, on some days we assisted Amanda and her assistant Endri with the baking and packaging.

While we work, Amanda told me something very interesting. It turns out that all of the ingredients used for the cookies were not bought at the supermarket like we originally thought.

Amanda took her time to find small local suppliers directly impacted by the fall of tourism here in Bali, and buy directly from these shops and suppliers. Similarly, Endri, her assistant also lost her job because of this situation and has now gained a source of income from working on these cookies. I was very surprised and did not expect that there were so many parties who contributed to the making of su-re.cocoa Gluten Free cookies.

But of course, it didn't stop there, as the sales of these cookies brought more gifts to the farmers through biogas and climate field school. Hopefully, this pandemic ends soon, but even during this pandemic, we can all continue to be gift makers in any situation, anywhere. Have a great day!
